“The Waves” sculpture, a piece of public art on the Hartlepool Coastline, was installed in 2018.
The Waves, by artist Stuart Langley is a new and exciting sculpture on Hartlepool’s coast, a cultural landmark drawing visitors along the coastline. Commissioned by Hartlepool Borough Council and funded through the Coastal Communities Fund, the sea glass used in the sculpture was collected by members of the local community. The sculpture was chosen following an online public vote where people chose from nine shortlisted submissions received from local, regional and national artists.
