On February 19th, work on the major new expansion of Queens Meadow Business Park will begin thanks to a £3 million investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). HCA have appointed North-East based company Meldrum Construction the task of building over 2000m² of light industrial units at Queens Meadow as part of the Hartlepool Vision, which will help to bring 50 new jobs upon completion, with the creation of several more through the supply chain. Meldrum Construction alone will employ many locals in order to complete the expansion, including 9 apprentices who are already in training.
Councillor Robbie Payne, chair of Hartlepool Council's Regeneration Services Committee, said “This is a very welcome investment for Queens Meadow Business Park and excellent news for Hartlepool. Since Queens Meadow was designated Enterprise Zone status eighteen months ago, new companies have been attracted and several others have expanded, creating an extra 130 jobs. We are now at almost full occupancy at Queens Meadow so the timing is perfect for the HCA to announce it will be providing additional business units.”
The development will also ensure that Cleveland Fire and Rescue will be able to expand and develop their existing headquarters to be able to provide a better service to local people.
