The North East Regional Cyber Crime Unit (NERCCU) deals with serious cyber-dependent offences including Distributed Denial of Service attacks with the use of Botnets, Phishing, Network Compromise and Extortion. The team also has a dedicated Regional Cyber PROTECT, PREVENT & PREPARE function, who look to safeguard businesses and communities by providing advice and assistance to minimise the opportunities for criminality in this area.
The Regional Cyber PROTECT & PREPARE function can provide guidance for small and medium businesses (SMEs), charities and other organisations through a variety of methods, such as emails, calls and business visits / presentations.
