Cash boost on offer for young entrepreneurs

YOUNG people in Hartlepool are being reminded that they can tap into a cash fund to help them become entrepreneurs.

n

Grants of up to £250 are on offer to individuals or groups of young people aged 11-19 to help them develop a product or service and start their own business.

n

The grants are from the Youth Enterprise Fund, which was set up by a partnership of Hartlepool Council’s Economic Regeneration and Standards, Engagement & Development teams plus training company Amacus.

n

The money is distributed through the Youth Support Service’s Grant Givers Panel, which is supported by local business mentors.

n

The initiative is part of the very successful Hartlepool Youth Investment Project, in which Hartlepool Council, employers, schools, colleges, the voluntary sector and other key organisations are working together to help the town’s young people to get a good start in life.

n

Councillor Kevin Cranney, Chair of the Council’s Regeneration Services Policy Committee, said: “There’s no doubt our young people have some very good business ideas and these grants and the advice and support which comes with them will help our budding entrepreneurs on the road to success.”
