Northern Powerhouse- Manufacturing Trade Mission to Turkey

The Department for International Trade (DIT) and UK Science & Innovation Network (SIN) invite you to join the Future Manufacturing trade mission led by the Rt. Hon Lord Janvrin, the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Turkey.

The mission will visit the two main cities within the Marmara region: Kocaeli and Bursa. Kocaeli is home to some of Turkey’s largest enterprises, including four technology parks, three research institutes and a recently opened IT valley. Bursa is the manufacturing base for the automotive industry in Turkey along with defence, space and aviation industries.

Turkey and the UK have a strong relationship with total trade worth £17.7bn from April 2018 to March 2019 and exports worth £6.1bn. The top five exported goods include:

  • Precious stones and metals (35.2% of all UK goods exported to Turkey), 
  • Machinery and mechanical appliances (21.8%),
  • Iron and steel (10.8), 
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway stock (7.3%), 
  • Electrical machinery and equipment (3.6%)

This presents some great opportunities and highlights the demand for UK expertise in manufacturing and technological innovations.
